💡 Thinking Academy invites you to a session from the “Different Meanings” series, exploring “The Search for Self: Identity Crisis and the Birth of the ‘I’.”
The discussion will be led by Giorgi Chanturia, a psychologist and psychotherapist at Integra, and Andro Dgebuadze.
➡ What does it mean to find yourself? Is it about discovering a self that already exists, or creating and developing it ourselves?
➡ The session will explore identity and the formation of the self from two different perspectives, examining the internal and social processes that contribute to the development of human subjectivity.
➡ Particular attention will be given to the desire of the Other as a significant factor in shaping the self. How do other people's expectations, judgments, and recognition influence our sense of identity? And how might this process distance us from our own desires and sense of agency?
➡ The discussion will also address the ever-changing nature of the self, the influence of past experiences and environment, and the role of modern social media in identity formation.
➡ The aim of the lecture is not to provide definitive answers, but to raise meaningful questions alongside the speakers and explore the psychological mechanisms that shape our search for self.
🍰 Guests will enjoy a buffet reception and a welcoming atmosphere.
⏳ Duration: 2–3 hours.
