We're inviting you to an unusual and completely unconventional event — open to everyone, though at first it might seem a bit intimidating. It's not a tour, not a lecture, and not a seminar — it's a walk through Tbilisi in Latin.
Yes, yes, yes — Latin is alive enough to describe even modern cities! Together, we’ll visit some of the capital’s most iconic places. Much will become clear from the context, and at the same time, you’ll hear how Classical Latin really sounds — a language often associated with alchemy, devil-summoning, or Harry Potter.
Our guide and storyteller is Alexey Chernorechensky, a linguist and specialist in cultural theory and history. Back in his university days, he set himself a goal: to bring Latin into spoken practice and debunk (at least for himself) the myth that it’s a “dead” and “purely written” language.
