CHICAGO

The musical is based on the play of the same name written by Maureen Dallas Watkins in 1926, which, in turn, reflects the true events of the time. Watkins was a reporter for the Chicago Tribune's crime division, which used crime chronicle stories as its plot. The main characters were inspired by real people - female killers from Chicago, Belva Gartner and Beulah Annan.
