Book Presentation: "Grande Maestro — Giorgio Strehler" by Tamar Mukeria

The foyer of the Dimitri Aleksidze Educational Theatre at the Shota Rustaveli State University of Theatre and Film of Georgia will host the presentation of "Grande Maestro — Giorgio Strehler," a new book by Tamar Mukeria, visiting lecturer at the university, Doctor of Art Studies, and theatre scholar.

The publication has been released by the university's publishing house Kentavri as an educational resource.

The editor of the book is Marine (Maka) Vasadze, Doctor of Art Studies and Professor at the Shota Rustaveli State University of Theatre and Film.

In this study, the author explores the work of renowned Italian theatre director Giorgio Strehler alongside the fifty-year development of twentieth-century Italian theatre. The book examines major theatrical reforms, the emergence of new directing approaches, and the significant role of Piccolo Teatro in restoring Italian theatre's place within the broader European cultural landscape.

This publication represents the first attempt in contemporary Georgian theatre scholarship to examine twentieth-century Western European—particularly Italian—theatre through the legacy of Giorgio Strehler.
