Description

At first glance, David Kldiashvili's Bakula's Pigs appears to be a light domestic comedy. Beneath its humor, however, lies a powerful and thought-provoking portrait of human nature.

The play explores how fear, poverty, and a sense of helplessness in the face of authority can erode a person's dignity and inner freedom. That is why it remains strikingly relevant today: it speaks not only about a particular historical period, but about the timeless danger of choosing obedience over freedom.

This new stage adaptation examines the cycle of oppression and submission, showing how people gradually lose their dignity, then their voice, and ultimately their ability to resist.

Behind Kldiashvili's sharp wit and satire, the performance poses a profound question: At what point does a person stop resisting and begin to justify their own subjugation?
