Avril and the Extraordinary World

Steampunk French animation about an alternative past.

The year is 1941. In France, Napoleon V rules, and steam technology prevails, as for many years outstanding scientists have been mysteriously disappearing around the world, and electricity has yet to be discovered. When the main character, a girl named Avril, was little, her parents tried to obtain an elixir of immortality but also vanished under mysterious circumstances. Since then, Avril, along with her inherited talking cat, has been trying to recreate her parents' elixir recipe.
