This is a monodrama based on the play “The Night and the Parrot” by playwright Tamaz Badzagua.
The story unfolds in an artist’s studio — though the exact setting is left to the viewer’s imagination.
The protagonist creates his ideal woman — a figure that doesn’t actually exist — yet he becomes jealous of her imagined relationship with an unknown man, whom he then kills in his mind.
He envisions being arrested and wants to escape this reality but cannot.
The props on stage become his imagined companions.
The ideal woman appears as a phantom — only to vanish as quickly as she arrives. In his effort to save himself, the hero assumes various roles and identities, but even this cannot save him from the noose.
At the critical moment, his imagined ideal appears as an angel and lifts him down from the gallows. Their interaction reflects a divine connection — between human and God.
The central message of the play is:
“Life is a well-directed play by a good director. Never hide your true face behind a mask — otherwise, a bad director will trap you in the snare he set himself.”
