Amarcord

One of Fellini's masterpieces, a film-memory about the hometown of each of us. And it doesn't matter if we were born in Italy or not, we were all once children.

The main character of «Amarcord» is the city itself, located on the coast. This incredibly lively film feels as if Fellini appeared in a real provincial town in Italy, placing cameras in different corners, and we simply observed what was happening.

The director laughs at religion and laughs at politics - it seems that any institution created by humans is foreign to him. Even the Italian fascists are shown cheerfully, and yet 99% of Italians were part of the party at that time. In the interrogation scene, an officer says, «Just a little more, and we would have treated you to coffee,» as he releases a prisoner. However, Fellini could have embellished for the sake of entertainment.

Against the backdrop of city landscapes, one family stands out with their domestic adventures, shouts (although Italians always speak loudly, so you can't tell when they are arguing or praising each other), joys, and sorrows.
