You have probably heard about the tightening of U.S. migration policies and seen alarming news about killings and deportations.
This Saturday, we invite you to a public talk with Roman Lukyanchikov, who has gone through a difficult journey and is ready to share his experience openly and honestly.
At the meeting, Roman will tell the story of an emigration that became an ordeal: crossing the U.S. border, immigration detention, cold cells and endless uncertainty, a court denial and deportation back to Russia, where a criminal case has been opened against him.
This will be a conversation about fear and choice. About the people he met in detention, and how one can remain free even behind bars. It is also a story about how education became a form of resistance, and how returning home became a new beginning.
Join us for an open conversation about what the pursuit of the “American Dream” can lead to.
The meeting will be led by Roman Lukyanchikov @romanluka, journalist. For the Russian authorities, he is a “traitor to the Motherland.” For himself, he is someone who could not betray his conscience.
