80th Anniversary of Lia Salakaia’s Birth

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and Tbilisi City Hall, the Cultural and Educational Center “From the Experience of Our Ancestors — Toward the Future” will hold a concert entitled “A Bridge Built Through Chant” on September 24, 2026, at the Grand Concert Hall of the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire.

The concert is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of renowned sacred music performer and recipient of the Golden Order of St. George, Lia Salakaia.

The project has two key goals:

— to honor the distinguished teacher and recognize her lifelong contribution;
— to promote reconciliation between Georgian and Abkhaz communities.

Lia Salakaia was originally from Abkhazia.
