Description

The music of Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Sofia Gubaidulina, Nastasia Khrushcheva and Alisa Dukhovlinova is regularly performed on stages around the world. Yet their compositions have never before been united in a single program.

“5 Portraits” offers a rare opportunity to hear them together and to experience the evolution of piano language across nearly two centuries.

From the romantic cantilenas of the 19th century to contemporary soundscapes and quotation techniques. From personal expression to music as a space of cultural memory. From expressive intonation to works that explore the very nature of sound — its fading, duration, delicacy, and perceptual context.

The program’s author and performer is German Markasin, laureate of international competitions and concertmaster. His concerts stand out not only for virtuosity but also for carefully shaped dramaturgy, transforming each evening into a cohesive musical narrative where music becomes vividly alive and deeply emotional.

Concert Program:

Fanny Mendelssohn — Nocturne in G minor
Clara Schumann — Pieces for Piano, Op. 15
Sofia Gubaidulina — “Musical Toys” cycle
Nastasia Khrushcheva — “Russian Dead Ends” (Georgia premiere!)
Alisa Dukhovlinova — Passacaglia “In the Sands”
(based on a poem by Maya Grigoryeva)

“5 Portraits” is a piano concert where five personalities, five female destinies come together to tell a story of a beautiful and heartfelt attitude toward the world.

The concert will take place in the modern and elegant hall of the Lutheran Church.

See you on March 6!
