Aida

“Aida” — Aida — is an opera in four acts and seven scenes by Giuseppe Verdi, with a libretto by Antonio Ghislanzonibased on a scenario by the Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. It was commissioned by Isma'il Pasha, the Khedive of Egypt, for the Cairo Opera House, whose construction was associated with the opening of the Suez Canal.
