Sally Orange served in the army, survived cancer, and then went to run the highest marathon on Earth at the foot of Everest — to say out loud what most people keep quiet about. Premiered as the headline film of a British festival this year. You leave the cinema lighter than you came in.

ISABEL (USA, 29 min)

Colombia's drug wars are always told by the men who ran them. Here it is told by a woman who was born into it, lost her family to it, and got out of Medellín alive. Quiet, close, and completely unlike the version you know from the series.

THE HEAD MASTER (Switzerland, 5 min)

In a Kuala Lumpur workshop, Master Siow still builds lion dance heads by hand — bamboo, rattan, paper, painted face after face. Five minutes of pure craft, filmed by a director who works for CNN and the BBC.
