Description

We're going hiking to the Abudelauri Lakes!
One of the most beautiful and hard-to-reach spots for large tourist groups in the mountains of Khevsureti!

The Abudelauri Lakes are glacial, located at an altitude of 2600–2800 meters above sea level. In winter, they freeze solid! Summer is the best time to see them – the atmosphere is unique, and climbers often set up tents here.

We'll drive along the Zhinvali Reservoir, through the Pshavi Aragvi Gorge, up to the high-mountain village of Roshka.
There are three lakes in the valley: Green, Blue, and White.

From the village, we’ll drive a little further and then continue on foot:

To the Green Lake: ~4 km with an elevation gain of 250 m – a gentle hike along the scenic Chaukhi Valley, following the Chaukhi River.

To the Blue Lake: another ~0.5 km uphill and downhill – steeper terrain.

To the White Lake: ~1 km with another 250 m gain – more challenging, optional depending on your fitness and footwear.

We'll shorten the route depending on how far we get by jeep.
In general, it's possible to see all three lakes in a day, but reaching the White Lake requires extra effort and good shoes.

We’ll have a picnic near the Blue Lake – everyone brings their own food.
Total driving distance: about 250 km.
We’ll be going in two jeeps – only 4x4 vehicles can make it! The road is rough and unpaved!

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
