Description

What we will see: Small waterfalls in the Terek Gorge, coming directly from a volcanic rock formation. The natural attractions of the Truso Valley are the multicolored mineral springs. They are rich in iron and form salt deposits in orange-red streaks (almost rust). The calcium-rich springs are white lace-like travertines covering the entire slope, several meters wide. One of the main attractions of the valley is the carbonated lake! The water is very cold, high in iron, with bubbles of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. This ban was introduced relatively recently because the lake is a natural monument and a source of drinking water. The mineral water here can definitely be drunk, and it is very tasty! If we have enough strength, we will hike to Zakagori (a village-fortress). Picturesque and extensive ruins of a citadel on a hill with a view of the upper reaches of the Terek River (14th century). A picnic in a scenic spot (with a stop at a supermarket on the way out of town).

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
