Eternity and a Day

Poetic, melodic, poignant, and mesmerizing cinema from the Balkan Peninsula. A drama about a terminally ill writer who decides to spend his last day in the company of a young Albanian illegal immigrant.

Despite the challenging themes of illness and death, "Eternity and a Day" encapsulates the most life-affirming motifs. Bruno Ganz plays the elderly poet who learns that he is seriously ill and has only one day left to live. How the hero spends his remaining time is depicted by the Greek director Theo Angelopoulos in his beloved style of painting on a canvas with broad strokes, infused with elements of a road movie.
