A famous French cartoon, which was invented and drawn by Russian emigrants.
The story, told by Canadian Frenchman Sylvain Chaume and Russian Frenchman Jacques Tati, involves kidnapped cyclists, aging starlets, overseas gangsters, a brave old lady, and President Charles de Gaulle. The cartoon's production designer is Evgeny Tomov, another Russian emigrant.
«The Triplets of Belleville» was shown in the non-competitive program of the Cannes Film Festival and won a five-minute standing ovation. This is a dynamic, ironically friendly, French-style grotesque animated movie for adults and children.
The whole action takes place against the background of incendiary swing melodies by composer Benoit Chare.
