Let's start watching the cult trilogy "Three Colors" by Krzysztof Kieślowski. The first one, according to the sequence of colors on the French flag, is blue.
The "Three Colors" trilogy is a free reflection on the slogan of the French Revolution, "liberty, equality, fraternity." The first film is dedicated to liberty.
The main character (Juliette Binoche) survives a car accident that takes the lives of her husband and five-year-old daughter. Will she be able to free herself, and if so, from what or thanks to what? Kieślowski doesn't provide answers but invites the audience to experience the cold space of grief, inhale the icy blue air, and perhaps find something important at the bottom of this emptiness.
The film received three "Golden Lions" at the Venice Film Festival: for Best Actress, Best Cinematography, and the Grand Prize.
