Description

Tour “Armenian Tbilisi: History, People, Architecture”

Armenians of Tbilisi are not just a diaspora — they are part of the city’s DNA.
Tbilisi has always been a crossroads of cultures, languages, and religions. And among all the peoples who lived here for centuries, Armenians played a special — even decisive — role in shaping the city. Once they were the majority: they built churches, schools, theatres, hospitals; created architecture; engaged in trade; produced art; and donated generously for the public good.

Armenians were mayors of Tbilisi, its architects, and its patrons. Their influence on the city’s appearance, spirit, and history is so significant that it is impossible to imagine Tbilisi of the 19th–20th centuries without them.
Our tour is a walk through a past era — gone, but not forgotten — where Armenians often shaped the face of the city no less than Georgians, Russians, Jews, or Germans.

But this is more than a tour.
It is a living walk through history, filled with the voices of those who made Tbilisi what it is today.
During the tour, you will receive cards with authentic quotes from residents and visitors of old Tiflis: Armenian patrons, Georgian public figures, European travelers, and others.
You will have the honor of telling the group about an important event, person, or building in Tbilisi.
