“One of the greatest pianists I’ve ever heard” — Ahmad Jamal (Frederick Russell Jones), one of Miles Davis’s favorite jazz pianists, on Shahin Novrasli
With a modal nature, improvisational spirit, academic depth, and Azerbaijani roots, Shahin Novrasli’s playing becomes a form of cultural alchemy.
His style is a powerful fusion of jazz, classical music, and mugham — a traditional Azerbaijani art form passed down through generations. It reflects the essence of his homeland, the “Land of Fire.” Jazz-mugham is where East meets West, echoing a unique cultural heritage and the buta symbol — a sign of rebirth and evolution.
On May 11, the Shahin Novrasli Trio will open the International Art Festival “Tbilisi Rhythms,” named after Soso Lagidze, at the Grand Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire.
The festival is organized by Tagis Arti.
