Synopsis:
The final feature film by Mikheil Kalatozishvili (Kalatozov), released in 1969. It was a large-scale Soviet-Italian co-production.
Based on real events, the film tells the story of the 1928 Arctic tragedy. The airship “Italia,” led by Italian explorer Umberto Nobile, crashed onto the ice while returning from the North Pole. The surviving crew members set up camp in a red tent as they waited for rescue.
