“The Promised Shore” is an attempt to explore geopolitical changes not through facts and statistics, but from a deeply human perspective. Occupation has a life-changing impact on people’s lives, their emotional state, and the way they perceive the world around them. Along with this, not only lifestyles change, but also relationships between people.
This is what “The Promised Shore” is about. The play is an adaptation of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire.
The main characters are two sisters, Sophie and Helen, whose lives are torn apart by the political situation in their homeland — France.
