1950, somewhere in the Middle East. The extravagant tycoon Zsa-Zsa Korda (a character partly inspired by Armenian oil magnate Calouste Gulbenkian) survives a series of assassination attempts and launches a grand transcontinental project called The Phoenician Scheme. In a bid to protect his empire, Korda names his daughter Lisl—whom he pulls from a convent—as his sole heir. Together, they must face numerous enemies, political intrigues, and fight for the future of their family, their business, and all of Phoenicia.
