The project is inspired by the migration of refugees from Abkhazia (following Russia’s military invasion in 1993). The internally displaced persons had to endure a 250-kilometer arduous route across the Chuberi Pass, which became known as the “Path to Golgotha.”
As part of the project, an interview was recorded with Jaba Janashia, who became a refugee on his 9th birthday. Together with his parents and sister, it took him 13 days to cross the pass. Based on the interview and documentary materials, a film, music, and performance were created.
The first part of the presentation features the artists’ procession toward the theater, streamed live on the hall’s screen along with Jaba Janashia’s interview. The second part of the performance unfolds on the theater stage.
