Description

Humanity has been fighting since its very beginning, but the history of wars is not only about global conflicts, tank offensives, and geopolitics. Sometimes people go to war over a bucket (yes, the one in the picture), ostriches, football, or even a stray dog.

If you enjoy unexpected historical stories and want to discover just how strange the causes of serious conflicts can be, join our seminar on the most absurd wars.

At this Saturday’s meeting, we will explore some of the most bizarre military conflicts in history.
We’ll find out how a 335-year war ended and which army lost a war to birds (quite large ones, by the way — worthy opponents).
But most importantly, we will look beyond the curiosities — because behind every “funny” cause lie real political, economic, and ideological reasons.

Join us to learn more about conflicts that may seem strange at first glance, yet are all the more insightful because of it.

The session will be led by historian and political scientist Egor Yakovlev
