"The Flea and the Ant" is one of the best-known treasures of Georgian oral folklore. Passed down through generations for centuries, this beloved tale has become familiar to nearly every Georgian.
Everyone needs a friend—people, animals, birds, and even the tiniest creatures. This heartwarming story follows a little Flea who is willing to do everything possible to save her friend, the Ant.
When the Ant falls into the water and faces certain danger, the Flea sets out in search of help. Along the way, she asks a pig, an oak tree, a crow, a hen, a pit filled with millet, a mouse, a cat, and a cow for assistance. Each agrees to help only if they receive something in return. Though exhausted by every challenge, the tiny Flea never gives up. In the end, she succeeds in rescuing her friend without asking for anything in return, proving that true friendship is priceless. Only those with kind and generous hearts can be true friends.
The performance brings this timeless Georgian folktale to life through traditional folk music, songs, and dance, creating a memorable theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
