The City of Lost Children

In a castle that resembles an oil rig, lives an evil scientist named Krank, who cannot dream. He is forced to steal the dreams of the children he has kidnapped. The problem is that only nightmares appear in the dreams of the terrified children, and therefore to him.

The film is distinguished by its complex composition: distorted color palette, emphasizing all shades of rust, acidic green water, and costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The directors fully utilize the old-fashioned aesthetics of the freak show: the film features dwarfs, eight-armed twins, and a strongman breaking chains.
