This classic of absurdist theatre, written in 1950, feels not merely relevant but almost essential in today’s digital age.
We live in a world where the prevailing formula has become: “I post, therefore I exist.” Across social media and digital platforms, we constantly speak, write, and express our opinions in an effort to appear successful and right. Yet in reality, we are finding it increasingly difficult to truly listen to one another. Words lose their meaning and turn into automatic sounds.
The world of the performance is artificial and deliberately theatrical — with a picture-perfect, advertisement-like interior and polished façade concealing complete emotional emptiness, mechanical routine, and the loss of individuality.
