Tbilisi: On Foot and Afloat

We’ll meet at the Maidan, the main trading square of old Tbilisi. From there, we’ll climb up to Narikala Fortress, then stroll through the famous sulfur bath district.

Next, we’ll walk through an ancient underground passage leading to the Mtkvari (Kura) River embankment, where we’ll hop on a boat for a scenic river cruise.

During the tour, you’ll learn how medieval Tbilisi functioned in its many roles — a commercial hub, a military stronghold, and a city of craftsmen’s quarters.
We’ll talk about daily life in past centuries, the city’s long history of conquests and destruction, and the essential role of the river in shaping Tbilisi and its changing riverbanks.
