Description

Tbilisi, Georgia — Tbilisi Architecture Forum 2026 will take place 18–20 September 2026, bringing together leading international and regional voices in architecture, design, urbanism, and culture for three days of dialogue, exchange, and exploration.

Under the theme Places in Transition, TAF 2026 explores the evolving nature of our cities, landscapes, and communities. Places are never static. They are shaped by social change, technological innovation, climate challenges, shifting identities, conflict, development, and the continuous reinterpretation of heritage.

Rather than focusing solely on creating something new, the forum asks how architecture can question, adapt, preserve, rebuild, and reimagine what already exists. Bringing together leading architects, designers, urbanists, researchers, institutions, and voices from beyond the profession, TAF 2026 will examine how the built environment changes—and how we can shape that change responsibly.

This year's international lineup features some of the world's most influential architects and creative thinkers, including Bob Allies (Allies and Morrison, UK), Keveh Dabiri (OMA, Rotterdam/London), Valentina Ciuffi (Alcova, Italy), Joseph Grima (Alcova, Italy), Luca Bussolino (Carlo Ratti Associati, Italy), Amin Taha(Groupwork, UK), Wei Yap (Wei Yap Architects, Australia/Georgia), Michael Graef (LAND srl, Austria/Italy), Borja Ferrater (OAB–ELIA, Spain), Ada Yvars Bravo (MYAA, Spain/UK), Yevgeniya Pozigun (MYAA, Spain), Marcelina Zielińska (Chapman Taylor, UK), Jack Taylor (A for Architecture, UK), Daren Comber(ScotBrownrigg / Rooms Hotels, UK), Joan Gener González (H3O, Spain), Pablo Senat (Bofill, Spain), Hayk Shahinyan and Ashot Snkhchyan (LFA, Armenia), and with additional speakers to be announced.

The forum unfolds across three days:

Day One – 18 September will be hosted by Rooms Hotel Tbilisi and Stamba Hotel, creating an informal setting for opening talks, networking, workshops, and first interactions between international guests, local professionals, students, and industry representatives.

Day Two – 19 September takes place at Expo Georgia, the main venue of TAF 2026, featuring keynote lectures, panel discussions, and conversations centred around the theme Places in Transition.

Day Three – 20 September invites participants to experience Tbilisi and Georgia through curated architectural city tours, site visits, and special explorations that connect the forum's discussions with the local urban and cultural landscape.

Running alongside the forum, Expo Georgia will host a three-day Product & Design Exhibition, showcasing innovative architectural materials, furniture, products, technologies, and design solutions from local and international brands. The exhibition will be free and open to the public throughout all three days.

As the leading international architecture platform in the region, Tbilisi Architecture Forum continues to foster meaningful conversations across disciplines, connecting global expertise with local perspectives while positioning Tbilisi as an important meeting point for architecture, design, and urban innovation.

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
