Description

“Stories of Tbilisi Houses Told by Their Residents” — Book Presentation by Anton Akimov

Join us for the presentation of the third book in a unique project dedicated to the histories of urban homes as told through the lives of the people who lived in them. These stories offer a fresh perspective on the city and reveal its character through personal memories and everyday experiences.

This new publication continues a research series exploring the lives of historic houses. Following volumes on Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the latest book turns its attention to Tbilisi.

Rather than focusing solely on architecture, author Anton Akimov explores the people who inhabited these buildings, tracing their lives, relationships, and experiences. Through their stories, the houses become living archives that preserve the memory of the city.

The book features both well-known Tbilisi landmarks, such as the Gabashvili House on Rustaveli Avenue, and lesser-known buildings hidden within historic neighborhoods like Kukia. Its pages bring together houses dating from the late 18th century, apartment and income houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and more recent buildings constructed on the sites of old family estates.

The presentation will be an opportunity to discover Tbilisi through the stories of its residents, explore how urban memory is preserved, and discuss the relationship between architecture, history, and everyday life.

Author: Anton Akimov.
