After Melissa (Jamaica, 75 min.)
Hurricane Melissa swept across Jamaica, and within a week, the news crews had left. This film stayed for the two weeks that followed: homes without roofs, destroyed schools, and people standing among the wreckage, making the decision to start all over again. Filmed by a Jamaican journalist who lives there and witnessed the aftermath firsthand.
The Jump (Netherlands, 30 min.)
In Friesland, people use long wooden poles to leap across canals. It’s a real sport — and it looks completely insane. A sixth-generation wooden-shoe maker who is expecting a child makes one final attempt to win the title that has always eluded him. Funny, tense, and over sooner than you’ll want it to be.
The Museum of Alternative History (USA, 17 min.)
An artist from Nebraska opened a museum where every exhibit is invented — fake artifacts, fake history, fake science. Visitors believed it all. A very funny film about just how easily any of us can be fooled.
