In turn-of-the-century Sweden, four men and four women try to untangle the intricacies of mutual attraction. While the hapless suitors clash with one another over the ladies’ favor, the women secretly form an alliance behind their backs — a sisterly pact meant to help each other find the happiness they deserve, and, along the way, deftly expose the men’s overconfident claims.
