A simple and, at the same time, complex film about how illusory human life can be.
Truman lives a cloudless Philistine life. He has a blonde wife, a small house, a perfect lawn, friendly neighbors, an office job, a best friend with whom he can have a beer after work, and an irresistible craving for traveling. Everything is great, but with nuances: one day the hero notices that something is wrong in his ideal world. Passers-by walk suspiciously in circles, he has never managed to buy a plane ticket in his whole life, his best friend convinces him that there is no better town than their own, so he should not go anywhere, and his wife, in the midst of a quarrel, suddenly shows a jar of "the best in the world" cocoa. Is Truman paranoid, or did he really turn out to be a pawn in someone else's game?
«The Truman Show» is one of the rare non-comedic roles of Jim Carrey at that time, which convinced everyone that he was capable of not only talented antics as a green man.
It received three Golden Globes, including one for best Actor.
