Sex, Lies, and Videotape

The family couple - Anne and John - are visited by their strange and cheeky university friend Graham. He has a secret that becomes known to Anne: the hero collects sexual confessions of women, filming them on videotapes. At the same time, he himself is impotent and cannot enter into full-fledged relationships. His peculiar hobby becomes his only opportunity to feel something.

The film's script was written in 8 days and was shot directly at the director's apartment. Despite this, it was a huge success at the box office and completely changed the approach to making good movies. Contrary to the triad in the title, it hardly contains any sex scenes: it is erotica for those who love with their ears. "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" is mostly not about sex at all, but about the miracle of seeing someone behind their perversions and reliable, impenetrable loneliness. 

 The film received three Golden Palm branches in Cannes, including the main prize.
