Seven Years in Tibet

On Saturday, August 1, we invite teenagers to a screening of Seven Years in Tibet—the inspiring true story of a man who set out to conquer mountains but ultimately discovered the greatest challenge was changing himself.

🎬 About the Film

Based on real events, the film follows Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer, who joins an expedition to the Himalayas just as the Second World War begins. After a series of extraordinary hardships, he finds refuge in Tibet, where he develops an unexpected friendship with the young Dalai Lama.

Immersed in a new culture and philosophy, Harrer gradually reconsiders his beliefs, values, and understanding of life.

Together we'll discuss:

• How a European worldview changes through encounters with Tibetan philosophy.
• Whether true friendship can overcome differences in age, culture, and beliefs.
• Why life's most valuable lessons often emerge through hardship.
