Description

On May 16, at Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi, Georgian football veterans will face legendary players from FC Barcelona. This is the second match in the "Legends Series," a continuation of the project launched last year in Batumi.

The Catalan giant is arguably the most beloved foreign club in Georgia. That love will only grow stronger in May 2025, as fans witness some of the most iconic footballers on the Dinamo Arena field. The main star of the evening will be Ronaldinho, the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner. The 2002 World Cup champion and one of the greatest players of all time will play in Georgia for the first time.

The construction started in 1933 (author, architect - Archil Kurdiani). Construction was finally completed on October 12, 1935, and the arena's official capacity was set at 23,000 spectators. (Gutsaev, Kifiani and Kanteladze scored the goals in the Cardiff goal) The next reconstruction of the stadium was carried out in 2006 (authors, architects - Gia Kurdiani and Archil Kurdiani Jr.) and the capacity of the stadium became 54139. The stadium was opened with a qualifying match for the European Championship. On September 2, 2006, the Georgian national team hosted the French national team. The meeting ended with the victory of the guests 3:0. In 2012, the old playing field at Dinamo Arena was replaced with a new, high-quality lawn. Complete rehabilitation of the energy system and irrigation system took place. New lighting was installed, which meets all the strict requirements. The VIP box has been completely redesigned to UEFA standards. In 2015, Dinamo Arena hosted the UEFA European Super Cup, in which Barcelona and Sevilla faced each other. The seats in the stands were completely changed for this match. The press box was renovated and completely covered, equipped with communication channels and desks of UEFA standards. The interior storage rooms and warehouse duality have been renovated. A modern multifunctional scoreboard was installed in place of the old scoreboard on the northern stand. The match ended with the victory of Tbilisi, with the score 3:0. The goals were scored by Gutsaev, Shengelia and Chivadze.
