On December 24, 1976, the relaxed, festive atmosphere that had been filling the airwaves of Newark NVA FM radio station took a dramatic turn when, at 8:35 PM, the studio received another call. On the other end of the line, a clearly upset woman began to speak almost in a whisper, telling her story: “I have a problem: I just came back from the gift shop and caught my boyfriend in bed with some nasty girl. I’m watching them from the hallway... I don’t know what to do...” After a couple of minutes of the host trying to calm her down, a gunshot was heard live on air...
