Scenes from a Marriage

The film consists of six "scenes," each representing a fragment of the twenty-year shared life of Marianne and Johan. Initially, we are meticulously shown, step by step, how abortion, infidelity, and hypocrisy gradually lead the family to collapse. However, divorce unexpectedly becomes an opportunity for the spouses to show each other sincere understanding and compassion for the first time in a long time.
