Description

Brief description – Rkoni is a village in eastern Georgia, situated in the upper Tedzami River valley, about a 2-hour drive from Tbilisi.
It offers a very appealing hiking route which allows you to:

  • See a stunning arch bridge from the 11th–12th centuries and immerse yourself in scenic nature. 

  • Walk through wooded slopes and the steep gorge of the river valley. 

  • Explore historic monuments including the monastery complex and other ancient structures. 

When & How:

  • Suitable for a one-day outing (if you stay on the easier path) or a two-day trek at a more relaxed pace.

  • Trail conditions may be unpaved, rocky, or in a narrow gorge — some physical effort required.

  • Bring: sturdy hiking shoes, water, a map or trail markers, rain/ weather protection.

  • Avoid going completely alone if you lack experience with remote trails.
