Brief description – Rkoni is a village in eastern Georgia, situated in the upper Tedzami River valley, about a 2-hour drive from Tbilisi.
It offers a very appealing hiking route which allows you to:
See a stunning arch bridge from the 11th–12th centuries and immerse yourself in scenic nature.
Walk through wooded slopes and the steep gorge of the river valley.
Explore historic monuments including the monastery complex and other ancient structures.
When & How:
Suitable for a one-day outing (if you stay on the easier path) or a two-day trek at a more relaxed pace.
Trail conditions may be unpaved, rocky, or in a narrow gorge — some physical effort required.
Bring: sturdy hiking shoes, water, a map or trail markers, rain/ weather protection.
Avoid going completely alone if you lack experience with remote trails.
