An atmospheric, audiophile folk horror in which a young couple — a sound engineer and a musician — retreat to a secluded cottage in Wales to record a new album among moss and ancient forests, and perhaps restore harmony in their relationship. One day, a strange, feral child with no name or past appears on their doorstep, gradually pulling them away from reality, as the couple finds themselves caught between ancient spirits of nature and the life they once knew.
For director Bryn Chainey, this is a debut feature — and already it reveals a distinct authorial voice. His horror doesn’t rely on fear so much as it envelops the viewer in a dense atmosphere of ancient folklore, intrigues with unusual sound design, and invites us to see something more in the familiar.
