Description

💡 On June 16, the Academy of Thought will host salon talks on the topic of "Psychopathy", led by psychotherapist Soso Dolidze.

In psychological research, the difference between the norm and pathology is not only qualitative, but also quantitative. Every person has a so-called dark side, which includes antisocial tendencies and deviations from social norms. A person expresses his antisocial behavior in different ways, some directly, and some indirectly, in a processed form. Culture, upbringing, traditions, religion, or public morality teach us how to deal with the antisocial side in us.

There are people whose antisocial actions go beyond the boundaries of the "norm" and become the guide of their behavior, in which case it may not be a symptom of it, but part of the core of the mental structure. If we rely on psychiatric guidelines for personality disorders, such a case is called antisocial personality disorder. This disorder is called psychopathy in slang and in a language understandable to everyone, which includes the above-mentioned diagnosis, but is used in a broader sense and is used to describe the mental construct of a person.

During the lecture, we will touch on the antisocial side of a person, starting from the norm and ending with pathology. We will try not only to list what psychopathy is characterized by, but also, in the context of depth psychology, we will try to explain what factors lead to the formation of antisocial tendencies in a person.

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
