Modern protest art is largely based on the experience of its predecessors - authors who fought against the tyranny of the pharaohs, the dictates of the medieval church and the limitations of the caste system.
Each historical period was characterized by its own style and way of expressing disagreement, be it obvious ridicule, open vandalism, or a veiled change in the canon. Documentary director Sima Truevtseva will talk about this at a lecture in Papers.
