Once upon a time, in a magical kingdom, there lived a great green giant named Shrek. He lived in proud solitude in a forest, in a swamp that he considered his own. But one day, an evil little man—Lord Farquaad, ruler of the enchanted kingdom—ruthlessly exiled all the fairy-tale creatures to Shrek’s swamp.

And so, the carefree life of the green giant came to an end. But Lord Farquaad promised to return the swamp to Shrek if the giant brought him the beautiful Princess Fiona, who was imprisoned in an unreachable tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon.
