The sudden appearance of unidentified flying objects in different parts of the world throws humanity into a state of shock. The aliens’ intentions are unclear: armed forces across the globe are put on full alert, while the brightest minds on the planet try to figure out how to communicate with the uninvited visitors. The U.S. government turns to linguist Louise Banks and physicist Ian Donnelly, tasking them with finding a way to establish contact as quickly as possible.
