Yuri and Tamar are members of the research group Bja do Tuta ("Moon and Sun" — editor's note), named after the first line of an old Mingrelian children's poem. The couple is dedicated to preserving and reviving forgotten Georgian gastronomic traditions.
On December 26, Yuri and Tamar will hold a lecture at Papers about New Year traditions of ancient Georgia and share how New Year celebrations were held in these lands long before Christmas trees and champagne appeared.
The lecture will delve into how past rituals have survived to this day, as well as the significance of festive dishes — why New Year's feasts are unimaginable without walnut-based dishes and roasted piglets, and the sacred meaning of the chichilaki.
The lecture will be in Russian.
Payment can be made on-site by cash or card.
