"We dedicate this screening to the birthday and bright memory of Pyotr Mamonov - an actor, legendary musician (“Zvuki Mu”), and a 'Russian folk hallucination.'
The hero of the film (not Mamonov) is a rather vegetable-like guy. Some people (Mamonov!) conduct an experiment on him, the essence of which we do not know (and there will be no revelation), as a result of which he sees a 'dream' about himself, but as someone completely different - strong, accepted by everyone, and loved by girls. Then he wakes up and realizes that his previous vegetative existence no longer satisfies him, and now he wants only one thing: to return to the blissful illusion.
This is probably the lowest-budget movie in the world: the film was made for $3,000, half of which went to Mamonov's fee. According to the director Sergey Loban's idea, he was supposed to play one of the roles in the film. But that was impossible: by that time, Mamonov was a super-legend who had long left worldly hustle and lived in a village. And no one knew who Sergey Loban was. Despite everything, Sergey gathered his courage, took the script, found that very village and that very house, but – he did not find the owner. So what was left to do? He slipped the script under the door and returned empty-handed. A few days later, Mamonov called back: 'Good script, I agree.'
