Twelve years ago, Junpei Yokoyama died saving some boy, and his elderly parents established a tradition of gathering family members to commemorate the anniversary of their eldest son’s heroic death. Their daughter arrives with her husband and a couple of noisy children, as well as their youngest son, Ryota, who is accompanied by his new wife Yukari and her son from a previous marriage. Ryota's relationship with his father, a retired doctor, is quite strained, as he chose not to stay at home and continue the family business, opting instead to become an artist.
As the day unfolds, filled with kitchen bustle, table conversations, and memories of the past, a picture of family relationships with all their nuances emerges before the audience.
