The distinguished Georgian painter was born on March 10, 1944, in Dedoplistskaro. His works are preserved in museums and have been awarded at numerous festivals and biennials.
Avtandil Popiashvili was part of the remarkable generation of 1970s artists who introduced Expressionism into Georgian art, significantly influencing the creative thinking of future generations.
The artist taught at the Jakob Nikoladze Art School and the Academy of Arts, mentoring many outstanding creators.
Avtandil Popiashvili passed away on April 15, 2012, leaving behind an invaluable legacy.
