Historical fantasy with Tilda Swinton based on the novel by Virginia Woolf. Orlando is a young and beautiful youth from the 17th century. He is determined to turn his life into art. Aging Queen Elizabeth I orders him never to age, and Orlando, as a loyal subject of the British crown, obeys and maintains his youthful appearance despite the passing centuries. Over the course of several centuries, he manages to live multiple lives, including becoming a woman. This is a case where the director maximally used Tilda Swinton's androgynous appearance, making her ability to play both female and male characters a highlight of the film.
